Day in the Past

 TO THE CUT!!

My time at the intern at PTRM has finally come to an end... okay it ended like two weeks ago but I've been staying in the lab and working just for the fun of it.

I had a party at Windy's the pizza place in town and it was such a great send off.  Then my dear friend Shelby found out I was leaving soon and decided to throw me a surprise party and it was amazing!!

I'm moved into my dorm in Rapid and am waiting for school to start... This is a start of a new adventure!!  

here in the office.. eating day old popcorn and choke cherries... and thinks..

yesterday rocked hard core....

yesterday we went into the field and finally FINALLY got the femur cast!! YEAH!!!
*does a happy dance!!*



sadly the pictures are in black and white.. forgot to change a setting on my camera... opps.. oh well its an artistic casting..

then when we got back to the museum.. i ran home and showered and changed and ran back to the museum.. we had to set up for NIGHT at the MUSEUM!!!

the number of kids kept changing.. and well that was hard..

the movie was scratched.. there was no real organization..

but it went off without a real hitch.. and everyone loved it!!

and i had such a great time.. yeah for being in the paper again!!

so now im dead tired.. and still at work... i think i need a nap.. and friday is my last day of work...

also! At the library we are watching a Harry Potter movie each night this week in preparation for the fifth movie coming to Bowman!!

On Tuesday Dave Fastovshy and Peter Sheehan came to Bowman. We spent Wednesday in the field and it was a mile and some walk in and a mile and some walk out.. not taking lots of water with us.. it was a long long day..

And I had everyone over to my place for food afterwards!!

It was great...Peter came to my class in 4th grade.. and he still remembers me.. I guess there aren't alot of people asking for his autograph... *shrug*

It was great to meet Dave and see Peter again!!

So It's been a while and lots has happened.

We have had the second week long field school and we had three student, Linda, Phil and Charles. We spent monday working at the two sites, Phil and Charles with Don at V88019 and Linda with Kathy and I at V88002.

Tuesday was much the same but we had a day tour with us. Kathy, Tom, Ruth and Jack came with Linda, Kathy and myself and we worked on the hadrosaur.  We put a cast on the pubis and then around lunch Dean and Antione showed up with Doug and Ken.  Then there were horny toads... pictures coming. we headed in a bit early. It was hot and so we worked in the lab.  We got a great days work done and it was a joy to have these folks.

Wednesday we had Margret, Carlie, Issac, and Adrea we worked more on the hadrosaur. The bugs were really bad that day so we headed in early to work in the lab.  Andrea and Carlie helped me screen through mammal material. They were a great bunch of kids.

Thursday  the guys stayed in the lab and the girls headed out into the field! Colleen came along and it was just her, Kathy, Linda, and myself.  we got tons of work done.. Colleen was great because she actually let me stay at her place so i could have A/C Much THANKS to her.  We worked all day because the weather was great.  After work we went for pizza and a movie.  ratitooie.. and no I can't spell that.

Friday we had some kids from Ekalaka here, Glen, Cameron, Johnathan and Rebecca. We worked at V88002 for the first half of the day then we headed out to collect an anthill and to collect a microsite.  The kids seems to really love the microsite and the ant hill especially.

Saturday came and Linda was the only one to come out with us that day.  It was a long hot day and we didnt get back to the truck till almost 2 with a cast of jaw.  So that was a long day.

How fast everything becomes geeky!

We haven't had a day tour and people into the museum have been there but I've been busy staring into a microscope. I have been continuing my work with the Eumys.

Since I last write, there has been the Bowman County Fair and the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Melanie and I went to Lemmon, SD and checked out the petrified wood and huge concretions there and saw the movie with her old room mates, really nice people.


During the County Fair Dan and Melanie were on the band float and i was sitting with Dean and his family catching candy.. YEAH CANDY!! We also went to the rodeo where I got weird pictures with Jen one of the meteorologists.


  Have to say the rodeo was interesting!!

Friday the 13th was the best night in a while. I went to Lemmon on my own to see Potter and the movie was great.  I then came home to find the band at the fair still playing and I went in and danced with Jen.  It was such a great night.

I also finally got myself a ring... I've been wanting to get on for a while now... Isn't it cute!!

Today is my day off and its really is nice to take a day off.

On the 3rd I had a day tour and on the 6th I did as well.

On the 3rd i had a group of 7! and the 6th is was only 3.

Both tours headed up to work on the femur at V88002. The crew of 7 headed to the micro site at V88018 before heading home.

We are really working hard to get that silly bone out!!

July 30th to June 4th was Bowman centennial and it was great! On the 4th I was in the parade and sang with the choir for the closing ceremony. It was a great day and I really feel like this has become my home.

Today Dean and I went out with Kirk Johnson and his crew of paleo type!

We went to several different sites and collected ash for analysis.





It was a long day that ended in mud buttes with great friends.. I hope they all had a safe drive as they headed out!

Today I went back to V88002 with another day tour, today with Dotty, Bob and Katie.  As the day progressed we found 4 bone ends going under the bone itself

Today i had a day tour with Linda and Sam and we went out to V88002 and worked on the femur there.

It was a really long day but with good company you can get a lot done.. the day started with us putting a JJ on the end of the bone because it was fractured and I was worried about being able to keep all the little pieces together.  I took them to see the boundary layer, the K/T and then went back to work after lunch!



Here they are working on the site.. and I still love the hat!!

We got chased out by the wind the first day and spent the rest of the week working at v88019 and v88002. we brought in 4 big casts, 8 buckets of dirt, and a bunch of little stuff

OKAY!!! so the week is almost at an end and we are spending today in the lab and then heading over to marmath for dinodays... which should be fun...

Yesterday we went to two different site with the Day Tour. Mike, Pat and Chris had a great time and we got a lot done!
